Monarch Tractor and CNH Industrial Announce Next Phase of Technical Licensing Agreement

LIVERMORE, Calif. – December 8, 2022 - The T4 Electric Power Utility Tractor debuted at the 2022 CNH Industrial Tech Day alongside  Monarch’s new MK-V tractor.

Monarch Tractor, maker of the MK-V, the fully electric, driver-optional, smart tractor, was present as CNH Industrial revealed the New Holland T4 Electric Power utility tractor at their 2022 Tech Day. The debut of the T4 Electric Power, a world first in this segment, marks the first product reveal to come out of the multi-year licensing agreement announced between Monarch Tractor and CNH Industrial in November 2021. Alongside the T4 Electric Power, Monarch also debuted its MK-V tractor, which launched earlier this month with the first delivery to Constellation Brands.

The New Holland T4 Electric Power battery electric utility tractor has 120hp, 440NM of torque and produces zero emissions. Depending on the mission profile, the tractor’s battery pack delivers up to a full day of operation, and it has up to 90% lower noise and operating cost than a diesel tractor. The T4 Electric Power’s roof houses sensors, cameras and control units which enable its advanced autonomous and automated features. Farmers can remotely activate the tractor via a smartphone app.

“It’s an exciting year for Monarch Tractor as we rapidly expand the offerings available to farmers in various industries,” said Praveen Penmetsa, CEO of Monarch Tractor. “The work we’ve been doing with CNH Industrial has been remarkable and we’re proud of the role we have played in the development of the T4 Electric Power utility tractor. We’re very committed to providing technological innovations and sustainable solutions, and this tractor is doing just that.”

The license agreement between Monarch Tractor and CNH Industrial focused on the launch of a scalable, modular electrification platform focusing on low-horsepower tractors to be co-developed across multiple product families. The agreement also furthers CNH Industrial’s ongoing commitment to decarbonizing agriculture through alternative propulsion systems.

Launched to the public in 2020, Monarch Tractor transformed the agriculture industry with next-generation EV technology and unparalleled automation capabilities to meet farmers’ most pressing needs. Four months later, Monarch deployed its pilot series at Wente Vineyards, marking the first time a fully electric, driver-optional, connected tractor had ever been deployed to a commercial farm. The MK-V has received critical acclaim and won numerous awards and recognition to date including being named to the 2022 CNBC Disruptor 50 list, recognized as a CES 2022 Innovation Award Honoree, and awarded “Overall AgTech Solution of the Year” in the 2021 AgTech Breakthrough Awards, among others.

The recently launched MK-V is a fully electric, driver-optional, smart tractor designed to combine electrification, automation, and data analysis to help farmers reduce their carbon footprint, improve field safety, streamline farming operations, and increase their bottom lines. Considering nearly 25 percent of global emissions result from agriculture, the zero-emission Monarch Tractor will help make meaningful emissions reductions as the use of Monarch Tractors scale in an industry that has been historically difficult to decarbonize. The use of the MK-V tractor simultaneously helps solve numerous challenges farmers face today including labor shortages, safety concerns, increased customer scrutiny for sustainable practices, government regulations, and more.

Manufacturing operations are expected to begin at the Foxconn Mahoning Valley, Ohio facility in 2023, while tractor Monarch smart roof production and research and development will continue in California.
